Who is MTa PASS for?

Inclusion is fundamental to MTa PASS.
MTa PASS is ideal for:
- students across the spectrum who need to understand how to make the most of their potential when working with others
- students studying citizenship and PSHE, key stages 3 and 4
- year 6 students who are preparing for secondary school
- 12 to18 year olds who are disillusioned with, or don't relate to, elements of mainstream education
- gifted and talented students aged 8 to 14.
How does MTa PASS work?
MTa PASS revolves around 17 practical activities that are fun and involving. They lead into 'whole brain' learning through group interaction followed by individual and group review. Different needs are met by the varied content, difficulty and length of the activities whilst the style of learning review may be by thought provoking discussion, drama or drawing.
Why is MTa PASS effective?
- It has wide appeal: young people, whatever their background, become absorbed in the activities finding them stimulating, involving, memorable and fun
- It is inclusive and non-threatening: there are no right answers nor comparisons with norms (but there are opportunities to introduce competition if appropriate)
- It does not involve role playing: it is about people being themselves
- Learning is realised through guided thought and discussion not direction
- Learning personal: students learn what is important to them as individuals, not what they are told is important
- It focuses attention on specific individual development needs.
Teaching with MTa PASS:
MTa PASS offers teachers deliver high impact activity based learning tools that are easy to use. The Teacher's Guide provides background information and general advice whilst the Teacher's Notes provide the details of each activity. The key to success with MTa PASS is encouraging students to think and take personal responsibility for their learning through learning reviews, not providing ready made solutions.
MTa PASS activities
- last from 5 - 25 minutes
- can all be used with groups of 3 to 5, but some are suitable for 1 to1 tuition, others groups of 10
- range from simple 'sharing and sorting' tasks to more complex 'design, build & compete' tasks
- are all repeatable and re-usable.
