MTa Maxi Insights
The activities in the 2 team working volumes introduce and develop general team skills whereas those in the other 4 volumes are more focused. Each activity has its own learning objective but all are complementary.
Tasks include;
- light hearted energizers with some movement
- intriguing problems that require logical or creative thought
- complex issues that demand careful planning and execution
- balancing conflicting priorities, e.g. accuracy vs. time, personal satisfaction vs. customer requirements, personal vs. team success
- managing change, the unexpected and ambiguity.
Timing
As a general rule the activities that introduce basic concepts take 10-20 minutes plus review, whereas those that deepen and extend the learning are longer (20-40 minutes plus review)
Number of Participants
Most activities are designed for groups of between 8-16 people, but some can be run with groups as small as 3 or large as 20
Each of the 6 volumes of activities contains:
- A Facilitator overview
- Activity summary

It's brilliant! It can be used for management training, decision making and problems solving. Only limited by own imagination.

The Maxi (Insights) is full of so many useful activities that they are great for lots of different situations. We have used short activities as energisers and warm-ups and longer activities to explore the key elements of successful teamwork and leadership
During a 5 module 'Supervisory Skills' programme for an Engineering Company we used one Maxi (Insights)exercise during each half day session - starting with the simplest (shape sorting) and working our way up to the 'Led Jigsaw' exercise. The 40+ participants(after some initial reluctance) threw themselves into the activities ... By the end of the 5 modules, they were full of praise for the MTa exercises and could see for themselves how much they had learned from getting involved in hands-on activities.

Additional Activities For Maxi Insights

Team Working Level 2: 8 activities (code: INS-T2)
Designed to deepen and broaden individuals' understanding of effective team working, these activities build on the basics by developing the skills, abilities, attitudes and the personal confidence needed to perform effectively in teams that are working with more complex issues.
Communication: 7 activities (code: INS-CM)
Aspects of effective communication are introduced in the team working activities, but these 6 activities are more focussed. Besides raising issues about the style and content of communications, they highlight its two-way nature, the importance of people being ready and willing to give and receive information, and the attitudes that help and hinder communication.
Business Priorities: 7 activities (code: INS-BP)
Some priorities are common to most if not all businesses e.g.
- customer focus; understanding and meeting customers' their needs,
- selling profitably; working efficiently and effectively, accurate costing, understanding the value of what you are offering, negotiating for profit
- planning; clearly identifying objectives, agreeing how to achieve these objectives, reviewing progress, revising plans and change.
The 6 activities in this volume cover aspects of all of these, they vary in conceptual difficulty from the relatively simple the demanding.
Problem Solving: 6 activities (code: INS-PS)
Through involvement in the activities in this volume, individuals can gain an insight into their and others' personal approaches and blocks to problem solving, and therefore open up opportunities for improvement. Participants find themselves confronting, understanding and identifying ways to overcome their personal blocks, whether they are perceptual, emotional, cultural or intellectual.
Performance Management: 6 activities (code: INS-PM)
These activities encompass some of the more complex and taxing aspects of leadership in business. Four of the six tasks use the plastic components in a similar way, but varying constraints produce very different learning opportunities. They are demanding intellectually and can stretch even the most able.
Participants working for themselves, as leaders or as team members have to set and work towards personal or group objectives, develop and evaluate approaches, monitor progress, revise plans, cope with change and manage relationships with colleagues and competitors: there are ample opportunities for participants to make and break alliances, and suffer the consequences!
The fifth activity is more light-hearted and less taxing, but equally enlightening. The sixth is challenging, demanding strategic thinking and planning whilst providing opportunities to examine attitudes to risk taking.
